The document windows

ScanIt is a MDI (Multi-Document Interface): you can have multiple documents open at any time. For each document, you can have more than one window open.

To open a second window on an open document, choose New Window from the Window menu.

Axes information and picked data points are stored per document window. So if you want to have two different axes definitions on one document, simply open a new window.

The bottom part of a document window will show the image of the graph. If the image is not entirely visible in the window, you can use the scrollbars to move around.

The top part of the document window contains the working mode and the controls that come with each mode.

Each window has a working mode. Each working mode will allow for different actions. The following working modes are available:

crop mode: in crop mode you can remove the unwanted edges from your image,
set axes mode: this mode will allow you to define points in the graph with known coordinates, in order to define the X and Y axes,
manual pick mode: in manual pick mode you can pick arbitrary points in the graph for which you want to know the location,
trace curve mode: this mode will assist you to pick many data points on a curve in your graph,
scan for symbol mode: this mode will assist you to pick many data points that are represented by symbols in your graph.
